Package pumping for the UK’s first net-zero restaurant

On the outskirts of Market Drayton, Shropshire, a popular burger chain set up the UK’s first net-zero restaurant (according to the UK Green Building Council’s Net Zero Standard), providing a blueprint for future sustainable fast-food developments.

As part of this new scheme, they required a way of managing foul waste waters generated at the site, and T-T was appointed to be a part of this historic moment.

We received an enquiry for a package pumping station to serve the unique wind-turbine and solar-powered restaurant, with a required storage capacity of 15m³ to reliably handle the expected amount of waste from the restaurant.

Our pumping station experts worked closely with the site’s contractor to ensure that specifications were met and the construction schedule continued as planned.

A Jupiter Package Pumping Station, the largest model in our Planet Range of pump stations, was selected for the job. This model is designed for waste management for larger developments such as restaurants, hotels, and hospitals, making it perfect for this new Shropshire restaurant.

With a maximum capacity of 15,500 litres and a chamber depth of 4500mm, the Jupiter is one of the largest polyethylene pump stations manufactured in the UK. Each model in our BBA Approved Planet Range is designed and manufactured by T-T in Cheshire, featuring a robust virgin-grade polyethylene tank and galvanised mild steel access cover. Three lower level 160mm inlets were included to accommodate the site’s drainage connections with a discharge connection to suit an MDPE / HPPE rising main.

Each of our package pumping stations comes complete with all the equipment needed for an automated waste management system, including submersible pumps, internal pipework, non-return valve, level control and a control panel with audible and visual alarm. Pre-installed internal pipework means that our stations are ready for installation into the ground as soon as they arrive on site, providing a fast and convenient waste handling solution.

T-T’s Planet Range of package pump stations are BBA approved, having achieved this quality accreditation in 2006, showing that T-T meets a high industry standard for safety, quality, and reliability. Manufacturing the chambers in-house means that our engineers can guarantee the quality and repeatability of their construction, with over 7000+ units sold worldwide there has not been a single recorded structural failure of a T-T package pumping station.

Each of our stations must pass T-T’s own internal testing and high standards before they are dispatched from HQ and this, along with our BBA accreditation, guarantees strength, chemical resistance, water tightness and durability – ensuring any site with a Planet Range pump station will be reliably removing foul waters for years to come. The Planet Range also boasts a reduced environmental impact, with each chamber being fully recyclable.
