How to lay perfect paving

Have you ever considered laying your own patio? Tobermore recently teamed up with Roger Bisby from Skill Builder to visit a project and see a Tobermore Approved Paving Contractor in action and pick up a few tips.

The project saw the team from Sperrin Paving complete an ambitious 3-day installation using a range of products from Tobermore including Historic Paving and Secura Lite Walling Products.

Preparing the sub-base for your patio is as important as the materials you choose to lay, in this video Roger spends time chatting to the team about best practice when laying a patio and gives hints and tips for any DIY enthusiast preparing to tackle a paving project.

Roger joined on Day 1 of the project in Co. Antrim where the brief was to create an outside area for the whole family to enjoy, which included; a courtyard area, walling, a raised flower bed and a path around the house. The homeowner had used Tobermore’s Landscape Design Service for the project.

The courtyard was completed using Tobermore Historic Paving with a Historic circle incorporated. The Historic circle was complemented with Sienna Sandstone Setts to match the colour of the property.

Historic slabs are easy to lay and complement both traditional and contemporary house types. Historic slabs provide the look and feel of traditional natural stone with the benefit of a modern hard-wearing surface. The property featured a set of double doors which lead out on to the patio area. Tobermore Step Risers were used along with Historic Flags for this finishing touch.
