The new structure, building highly innovative architects & Graber Pulver Zurich is recognisable by its bright metallic roof pierced with diamonds. The architectural design is both unique and understated because most of the building is subterranean. The two plates, reserved for permanent and temporary exhibitions and cultural events, are deployed in a green area. This breathing, open to museum visitors as walkers Boulevard Carl-Vogt, features a landscaped garden – designed by Guido Hager and Pascal Posset, Hager Zurich office – and a playground.

All spaces meet the highest requirements in terms of conservation, security and accessibility. The new building blends in right relationship of scale and form, with the historic museum building. It now houses the spaces reserved for scientific, technical and administrative activities.
