There is a need to install new platforms at Manchester Piccadilly station to enable more trains to travel through Manchester and across the North of England.
The plans include:
- The construction of two new through platforms (15 and 16) next to the existing platforms 13 and 14
- Extension of the existing passenger footbridge to access the new platforms
