Brechin Community Campus

The £26.5m project involves the replacement for Brechin High School, enhanced community leisure facilities, and a performance space and accommodation for adult learning and youth activities. Finance Secretary John Swinney marked the start of construction at a sod cutting ceremony.

The new facility is being developed by Angus Council in partnership with hub East Central* – which has been established to cover the Tayside, Fife and Central areas, and which the council can use to deliver community projects of this nature.

The new development will comprise a Community Campus which will be designed to provide modern, multi-functional and sustainable facilities, purpose designed to support a variety of service providers jointly utilising the facilities both during and out-with the school day. Those service providers include:

  • Angus Council Education Service: delivering the secondary school curriculum (for up to 800 pupils);
  • Angus College; delivering vocational learning courses;
  • Angus Council Community Learning & Development Service: delivering a range of young people/adult learning and support services; and
  • Angus Council Neighbourhood Services: delivering a range of leisure related sports and recreation activities.
