Crewe-based Wulvern has been awarded grant funding through the Homes and Communities Agency’s (HCA) Affordable Homes Guarantee Programme to deliver a further 568 affordable homes across Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester between 2015-2018.
The £14,749,417 funding comes at a time when Wulvern is delivering its largest ever development programme of nearly 450 new homes across Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester, worth over £60 million, supported by the HCA.
The programme will provide much needed, new affordable homes for local people to address the high housing need and strong demand in our area and offers a mixture of rent options and Shared Ownership as well as a new extra care facility.
There are over 4,000 people currently waiting for affordable housing in Cheshire East and 19,000 in Cheshire West and this demand is rising. As a responsible social landlord, Wulvern is committed to building more affordable homes to meet this demand.
Executive Director (Growth & Enterprise), Kevin Williams said:
“Wulvern is already well on the way to delivering one of the regions largest HCA funded programmes and we are delighted that the HCA has shown confidence in our ability to deliver by awarding Wulvern all of the grant we requested in the recent bid round.”
The new funding brings the total number of new homes Wulvern will develop by March 2018 to 1,036. It demonstrates the confidence that our Funders and the HCA have in the way that Wulvern is investing its money and managing the financial health of the organisation.
