Turner & Townsend has been selected by the Abu Dhabi Airports Company to deliver cost estimating services, scheduling and risk management for the capital expansion programme of Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The programme involves the construction of a state of the art new terminal, the Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC), as well as the redevelopment of existing terminal facilities and services to support the airport, making this a significant programme of works.
The MTC itself looks set to be approximately 700,000m², featuring 20,000m² of retail and food and beverage outlets.
The appointment follows work on a number of major infrastructure projects in the Middle East for Turner & Townsend, including Dubai and Oman airports, as well as international aviation briefs such as London Heathrow and Brisbane Airport.
Commenting on the appointment, Turner & Townsend Middle East Regional Managing Director Mike Collings said:
“Turner & Townsend has built a reputation working on some of the world’s largest infrastructure projects and has seen its business in this sector grow by two thirds since 2010-2011.
“Recognised for helping our clients to deliver ground-breaking schemes we are proud to add this new commission to our aviation profile. The Middle East is fast becoming a key hub for infrastructure and by leveraging our strong local capability, together with global knowledge we look forward to continuing to make a difference for our clients.”
Construction has commenced, with completion scheduled for 2017.
