New homes bring £1.4million windfall to Pershore

Schools, leisure facilities and a youth centre in Pershore are among the potential beneficiaries of a cash injection from Redrow.

The award-winning housebuilder has detailed planning consent to build 45 homes on a 1.9 hectare site off Rebecca Road in the Worcestershire market town.

The £12 million housing scheme, known as Abbey Meadows, will bring a raft of benefits to those already living in the area, as Redrow has pledged to invest more than £1.4 million in the local community.

Darren Turk, regional director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), says:

“The additional benefits new housing can bring are often overlooked, including employment, support for local shops and services, plus the associated investment in the surrounding infrastructure.

“In Pershore Redrow will be committing £1.1 million to the building of 14 affordable homes to meet local needs, but it doesn’t stop there. We’re also supporting schools and leisure clubs, as well as contributing to footpath improvements and providing a new bus shelter. These measures will benefit people already living in the neighbourhood, along with those who buy our homes.”

Local schools will benefit from a £173,500 contribution, while leisure services will also receive a boost, including £40,500 to enhance Pershore Leisure Centre or Riverside Youth Centre, plus £30,000 for adult recreation facilities.

Public open space and a play area will be created at a cost of £35,000 and a new bus shelter will be installed on Salters Lane. Redrow will also pay for new footpath links, cycle way improvements and towards maintaining and improving recycling facilities locally.

Located close to Pershore town centre, Abbey Meadows will offer 31 homes for private sale in a choice of two, three, four and five-bedroom designs. The first properties are due to be released for sale in June.

Featuring designs from the sought-after Heritage Collection, the homes will look traditional from the outside taking inspiration from the architecture of the Arts & Crafts era. Inside they will be bright and modern, with open plan layouts and a high specification as standard.
