Homebuilding & Renovating celebrates the best in sustainable home build with first Green Home Awards

The inaugural Homebuilding & Renovating Green Home Awards will open for entries on 2 November 2020, designed to commend the companies that are leading the way in creating more sustainable homes to safeguard the future of the industry and enable it to contribute towards the net-zero carbon movement.

The announcement coincides with the government’s Green Homes Grant scheme, which started in England recently. This allows homeowners to claim up to two-thirds on energy-efficient improvements to their home, up to £5,000 or £10,000, redeemable by 31 March 2021.

Jason Orme, managing director of Homes at Future PLC, says, “Buildings are responsible for over 40 per cent of global energy usage and around a third of greenhouse gas emissions. As the green building market continues to grow exponentially and enters the mainstream for home building with more accessible and competitive products and innovations, we identified that the time is right to celebrate sustainability in the sector. We hope these pioneering companies will realise their ground-breaking work and nominate themselves in our inaugural awards to receive the recognition and plaudits they deserve.”
