Heating and Ventilating Reviews 11th Annual Awards saw Airflow Developments conquer, with two Highly Commended products and one Category Win

On the 15th October 2020 Heating and Ventilation Review (HVR) held their 11th consecutive annual awards. As many other events have, HVR took to our screens and held their first ever virtual ceremony. Celebrating the best of the Heating and Ventilating sector, HVR gave out 11 prestigious flame trophies to the winners of their category awards.

Hosted by Ian Moore, the event began with an opening speech from Neil Brackenridge, President of BESA. He opened;

“We find ourselves in completely uncharted territory as we assemble online. In strange and difficult times like these, bringing people together is more important than ever.”

Heating and Ventilating Review editor, Heather Ramsden, also took to the screen before the winners were announced;

“The HVR Awards celebrate innovation, excellence, achievement and hard work from across the heating and ventilation industry.”

Airflow Developments, founded in 1955, are a long-term supporter and attender of these prestigious awards. With the highest number of products shortlisted across the categories they had four chances of getting their hands on a renowned flame trophy.

Up first for Airflow was the Domestic Product of the Year award. With two products shortlisted – the Adroit Cooker Hood and the Unohab – it was tough competition with a total of seven shortlisted products in the category. Only one product could win and the Adroit Cooker Hood DV51CH from Airflow, excelled;

“The judges felt this product was innovative and delivered on other key areas such as the environmental impact through the units thermal efficiency and use of recycled aluminium to manufacture the heat exchanger, thus reducing the carbon footprint”.

The Adroit Cooker Hood DV51CH, then went on to receive a High Commendation for its entry in the Sustainable Product of the Year category. This product not only saw recognition for its innovation but also for its sustainable engineering. The product is a whole house mechanical ventilation with heat recovery system that utilises heat extracted from the hob to transfer into incoming air throughout the house. With efficient heat transfer and filtration processes the unit is very intelligent in its ventilation process, ensuring clean, unpolluted, hot air is drawn in and stale, polluted air is extracted out.

Lastly from Airflow was the Susurro classroom and office ventilation unit, that was shortlisted in the Commercial/Industrial Ventilation product of the year category. Although the award was won by Mansfield Pollard, for their Ultraviolent Air Sterilisation System, Airflow still achieved Highly Commended Status for their product. The Ultraviolent Air Sterilisation System was deemed “very relevant in today’s global position and the fight against viruses.” as is the Susurro unit.

An overall very successful event for Airflow, and many other winners, was drawn to close by Ian;

“A huge congratulations to all of today’s winner, highly commended and finalists.”

With the hope that by next year’s awards we can meet together to celebrate the best of the heating and ventilation industry; Airflow look forward to seeing you there.
