According to Schueco UK, innovations and improvements being introduced for the 2018 competition mean that there are now even more reasons for entering the Schueco Excellence Awards for Design and Innovation. Inaugurated in 2013, these annual awards aim to celebrate the very best in building design and construction in the UK and Ireland.
This year, Schueco UK’s new co-sponsor, Architecture Today, will be adopting a dynamic multi-media approach to ensure the deepest possible engagement with the architectural profession and specialist contractors. The result will be even greater promotional opportunities for the winners and short-listed finalists in the competition.
In addition to print advertising, the 2018 Awards will be promoted by extensive on-line advertising, emails and a telemarketing programme. A dedicated micro-site, complete with tweets to AT followers, will carry full coverage of the Awards ceremony.
Videos of the winning entries will be shown at the Gala Luncheon celebrating the Awards. They will also be featured in a 24-page AT supplement and a video of the winners will be broadcast on the Schueco UK and AT websites.
A further innovation for 2018 is a second live Excellence Awards event to be staged at a prestigious London venue. This will take the form of a half-day Technical Seminar at which expert speakers will review some of the winning entries and provide in-depth analysis focusing on the collaboration, expertise and product design of each project.
The 2018 Schueco Excellence Awards Gala Luncheon will take place on 21st June at the famous Saatchi Gallery, off the King’s Road in London. Every company that submits an entry will be invited to attend, free of charge.
Confirmed names for the 2018 panel of judges currently include Chairman, Ken Shuttleworth, Make architects; Denise Bennetts of Bennetts Associates; Carl Turner, Carl Turner Architects and Jason Flanagan of Flanagan Lawrence. Specialist cladding consultants are yet to be named.
The categories for the 2018 Excellence Awards are: commercial, cultural, education, health, individual house, individual house improvement, refurbishment, residential development, steel project and specialist contractor. There will also be a Schueco Special Merit Award for Overall Excellence.
The only stipulations for an eligible entry are that a project submitted should be completed or handed over before the end of March 2018 and should utilise at least one Schueco system and involve a UK- or Irish-based Schueco Partner fabricator.
Further details and an online entry form can be found at www.architecturetoday.co.uk/schuecoexcellenceawards2018 The closing date for entries is 5 pm on 23rd April 2018.
