CEDIA Awards 2014 supports together for short lives

CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) is proud to announce Together for Short Lives as its nominated charity for this year’s CEDIA Awards.

Together for Short Lives is the leading UK charity for children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions and all those who support, love and care for them. From the moment of diagnosis, for whatever life holds, the charity helps to ensure that families make the most of their precious time together.

“The money we hope to raise is going to have a massive effect on the lives of the children” explains Wendy Griffiths, CEDIA’s Region 1 Executive Director. “It’s wonderful to be able to run an event which highlights our industry’s hard work, alongside contributing to a good cause. Many of us are familiar with the charity, due to the work Ian Morrish has been doing within our industry. A number of CEDIA members have been donating their products and time to install home cinemas into children’s hospices throughout the UK, so it is great opportunity to continue this support.”

As the chosen charity, Together for Short Lives will receive £5 from the sale of each CEDIA Award’s ticket. CEDIA will be looking to rally further support for the charity at the awards ceremony which is being held on Friday 11th July 2014 at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London.

Stephen Ballantyne, Director of Fundraising said:

“We are delighted to be the charity partner for this year’s CEDIA Awards. Children’s hospices have benefited from the incredibly generous support of the AV industry for a number of years and it is fantastic to see this continue. Supporting families, professionals and services, including all 49 children’s hospices across the UK, the charity helps to ensure that children can get the best possible care, wherever and whenever they need it.”

Since 2009, the AV industry has pulled together as a powerful, charitable force to bring the home cinema experience into the lives of terminally ill children, by donating products to Children’s Hospices in the UK. The scheme, Together for Cinema, has already installed 11 home cinemas and there are another three planned for 2014.
