British ‘cushioning technology’ kneepads get some weight behind them

Within just 18 months of operation, CL-7 Limited, the Daventry, UK  based company which developed ‘Redbacks Cushioning Technology’ to produce the award winning Redbacks Safety kneepads, is now enjoying unprecedented success throughout many trades and industries. Over 25,000 pairs have been sold with ‘Redbacks’ being described as the most technically advanced knee pads currently available in the world.

Stockists and distributors now include ‘blue chip’ organisations such as Trojan Tools Limited, Coleman Brothers Wholesale Wallpapers Limited, Cane Adam – a member of the Brewers & Sons Ltd family, and the online tool catalogue ITS.co.uk. Kent Blaxill and Astley’s of Coventry, two of the oldest and most trusted ancillary suppliers in the UK will be promoting and selling Redbacks in 2014. Redbacks are now widely available in 13 countries across Europe with on-going discussions to distribute in the USA, South Africa and Australasia.

Amongst orders being placed by many conglomerates and smaller independent firms within the building and construction, electrical, plumbing, catering, flooring and roofing trades, the kneepads are now being used by the Queens caterers MacFarlane Telfer and can be found in every royal residence. Through the company’s distribution network, customers include The Police Service of Northern Ireland, The Jersey Government, Bombardier, GKN, Shell, Bowmer Kirkland and The Dutch Navy, and trials are continuing throughout the UK by some of the largest housing associations in addition to maintenance companies within the oil and gas industry Worldwide.

Commenting on his company’s rapid penetration into the PPE (personal protective equipment) and workwear industries, Cliff Lockyer, CEO of CL-7 Limited said:

“It is essential that anyone in the workplace who spends any time working on their knees has the best possible protection in order to avoid painful operations or treatment later and save both money and valuable time. Our kneepads are being recognised as providing such protection and we are naturally delighted with the progress we are making after such a short period of being in business”.

Winners of the ‘2012 SATRA Best Innovation in Occupational PPE Award’, with a number of other 2014 ‘top product’ trade media nominations, the kneepads feature a soft and flexible TPE (Thermo Plastic Elastomer) leaf-spring set within a unique honeycomb matrix. ‘Redbacks Cushioning Technology’ distributes body weight evenly, elevating the knees to relieve back pain and reduce pressure on knee, leg, ankle and foot joints, whilst minimising the risk of possible injury from sharp or penetrating objects.
