For the second year running, BAM Construct UK has ranked first for the Job Crowd’s Top Construction and Civil Engineering Companies to Work For, and remained in 24th place in the Job Crowd’s Top 100 Best Companies for Graduates to Work For overall! BAM has also been ranked 150th in the Guardian’s UK Top 300 companies for graduates to work for.
The rankings are based solely on graduate profiles that appear on theJobCrowd.com, an impartial graduate job review website.
Nigel Kibler, Recruitment and Development Manager, said:
“The profiles are not vetted so serve as a true barometer of graduate life at BAM, good and bad! Much like TripAdvisor for holidays.”
“The professional development support that the L&D team provide is brilliant.” said Sam Winter, Assistant Project Surveyor who went through the graduate programme. “And BAM colleagues on site are always approachable and happy to share their experience and expertise.”
Fellow BAM graduate Myles Cole-Ganney, also an Assistant Project Surveyor who attended the awards, said:
“I was able to rotate between disciplines, from site management to surveying and planning, which was really useful. It gave me a much better understanding of the design and construction process, and how disciplines integrate.”
BAM’s graduate programme develops young people to be confident and autonomous as Myles found out. “I was trusted to manage the fit-out of Seven Pancras Square at King’s Cross after my first year which was a fantastic experience.”
Graduates valued job security, the fact the graduate scheme is recognised across the company, and good career progression opportunities.
“A good benefits package and professional development support also help us attract the right talent. As the industry faces up to a future skills gap, it’s important to invest in and train the right calibre of students and graduates to become successful BAM managers in the future.”
