Avant Homes gets the go-ahead for new £20m development in Kettering

Midlands housebuilder Avant Homes has been granted planning permission by Kettering Borough Council for a new £20m development, named Barton Point, as part of the Hanwood Park Sustainable Urban Extension.

Located just 1.5 miles from Kettering town centre on Barton Road, plans for the 5.18-acre development feature 71 high-quality three and four-bedroom homes across a combination of semi-detached and detached homes.

Once complete, there will be 11 of Avant’s signature house types to choose from with 20 per cent of homes designated as affordable homes at the development.

Work on Barton Point is set to commence later in the year, with the showhomes due for completion in the spring of 2021. The overall build is to take approximately two years and the first completion estimated to be in June 2021. The development is also expected to create 135 construction and sales jobs.

Barton Point has been named as such due to its proximity to the edge of the highly regarded village of Barton Seagrave, with the 71-home development forming part of the 890-acre Hanwood Park Sustainable Urban Extension.

Once complete, Hanwood Park will provide an additional 5,500 homes for the area and will include four new primary schools, a secondary school, open space including parks and play areas, alongside retail facilities and a space for health care, all of which Avant Homes will commit additional funds to as part of its community contribution.

Avant Homes Midlands managing director, Tim Brickley, said: “Hanwood Park Sustainable Urban Extension is a hugely important regeneration project for Kettering and we’re proud to be a part of it. Our collection of design-led homes will offer customers more flexibility and choice and the opportunity to live in an aspirational home on an exciting regeneration project.

“Since the easing of lockdown restrictions, we’ve seen a surge in demand from prospective buyers wanting to view our homes, which is still ongoing and we’re anticipating high demand for this development.

“We’re very pleased that planning permission has now been granted and we look forward to the completion of the land purchase in due course.”
