ASFP offers free passive fire protection seminars at Firex International 2015

The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) is offering visitors to Firex International the opportunity develop their knowledge of passive fire protection via two free half-day seminars.

The first seminar on the morning of Wednesday 17 June will provide an essential overview of issues to consider in the specification, installation, inspection and maintenance passive fire protection.

Aimed at those responsible for specifying or inspecting passive fire protection, such as practising fire risk assessors, responsible persons, local authorities, facilities managers, building control or care home providers, the seminar will offer delegates a valuable introduction to their responsibilities, as well as highlighting what to look for when installing or maintaining installed systems.

The second seminar will take place on Thursday 18 June. While still suitable for the building occupier, risk assessor and building inspector, it aims to develop the passive fire protection knowledge of contractors who specify and install such systems and other trades that may damage existing fire protection in the process of their work.

This seminar will explain the contractor’s responsibility to install and maintain appropriate fire protection and offers a client’s perspective, as well as a real case study to explain the vital role of passive fire protection and the implications of getting it wrong, as well as explaining how to get it right.

Following each seminar, delegates will be invited to visit the ASFP Passive Fire Protection Zone (D179), where passive fire protection industry professionals will be on hand to provide further advice and guidance. Those with particular queries will be able to visit the ASFP’s dedicated ‘Experts Clinic’ where ASFP specialists will be able to offer specific advice.

The Zone and surrounding ASFP member stands will showcase best practice and the essential role of passive fire protection within today’s built environment, with clear examples of how to install products correctly to achieve maximum performance, using the right materials and approaches to fire safety.

The ASFP will be offering visitors a wealth of essential documentation, publications and videos, as well as showcasing its new passive fire protection awareness training programme, designed to up-skill the supply chain involved in the installation of passive fire protection and improving the knowledge base of those involved in the design, supply, inspection and maintenance of passive fire protection.

The seminars will be held in the South Gallery, overlooking the exhibition hall. All delegates will receive free entry to the ASFP seminar of their choice and VIP access to Firex International.

Spaces are limited, so delegates must book in advance. To review the seminar programmes and reserve your place visit www.asfp.org.uk
