Specialist housebuilder Churchill Retirement Living held a national Land Conference on Wednesday 1 November to support its ambitious land acquisition plans over the coming years.
The Company’s new Land & Planning Director, Andrew Burgess, has been working closely with Chairman & CEO Spencer McCarthy to develop the retirement living developer’s national land buying strategy. He will spearhead a national land buying campaign over the coming years to support the Group’s long term growth plans, looking to acquire up to 60 sites in the next 18 months alone.
The Company’s first Land Conference took place at Victoria Square in Birmingham and was attended by around 100 land agents, surveyors and property industry professionals. Attendees learned about Churchill’s land buying requirements, the special characteristics of its sector, and how the Company is looking to build long term relationships with key land buying partners across the country.
With many years of experience in the retirement sector, Churchill has developed specific criteria for sites in the right locations, and can therefore react quickly and efficiently to new site leads. Churchill already has over 130 developments throughout the country, all located on brownfield sites of between 0.4 and 1.5 acres, within easy walking distance of town centre shops and amenities and good public transport links.
Speaking at the conference, Churchill’s Group Land & Planning Director Andrew Burgess said:
“We have ambitious plans for growth over the coming years to meet the demand to supply quality housing to meet the needs of older people. To achieve these plans we’re looking for brownfield sites close to town centres to keep building our award winning retirement developments across the country.
“We hear a lot about the importance of helping first time buyers onto the ladder, and a big part of the solution is to provide our rapidly growing population of retirees with more options to downsize and free up the housing ladder. We have clear criteria for sites in the right locations to create thriving retirement living developments that boost local economies, regenerate underused town centre sites, and provide a more active, independent lifestyle for our customers.”
Churchill Retirement Living is a leading provider of purpose built apartments specifically designed for the over 60s, creating new communities for those looking to live an independent, comfortable and fulfilling lifestyle in their retirement.
